The PM made that statement at his working session with leaders of Ho Chi Minh City on December 12, which lasted for more than six hours.

At the meeting, Mr. Phuc referred to the city’s high economic growth, its contributions to the nation’s GDP (making up 24%), service value (accounting for one thirds) and State budget (making up 29%). The city ranked second in attracting foreign investment in 2018.

Regarding the city’s obstacles in urban planning and management, overloaded infrastructure, transport congestion, flooding and polluted environment, the PM asked for taking drastic measures to enhance the rate of progress of key projects and handling slow progress projects.

On the other hand, he also expressed concerns over the city’s economic growth, which is only above the nation’s economic growth.

The Government leader highlighted the importance of equitization of State-owned enterprises as the city has not fulfilled the set target.

Mr. Phuc proposed the vision of the city’s development, heading to establish a city of a developed and rich humanity city, stressing that the city must take the lead in establishing a smart city.

It is necessary to accelerate socialization of investment and public services and concentrate on addressing backlog cases, he said.
