PM Dũng meets President Medvedev

VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, who is visiting the Russian Federation, on Tuesday, December 15, had a meeting with the host leader, President Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow.

Welcoming the delegation of the Vietnamese Government, President D. Medvedev stated that “the visit of PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng reflects Việt Nam’s intention to consolidate and strengthen the strategic partnership and comprehensive cooperation between Việt Nam and the Russian Federation, bringing the bilateral relationship to a new height.”

The two leaders shared their opinions and pleasure at the vigorous development of the Việt Nam-Russia relationship in all fields. They underscored the significance of the high-ranking regular political dialogues through which senior leaders can exchange their views and reach consensus on measures to boost ties.

PM Dũng and President Medvedev talked of major diplomatic activities of the two countries in 2010, especially the Russian tour of Vietnamese Communist Party chief Nông Đức Mạnh in the first half, the visit to Việt Nam made by the Russian President, and the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties establishment.

PM Dũng praised Russia for its considerable contributions to regional processes, including the ASEAN-Russia dialogue partnership, confirming that Việt Nam supports and will do it utmost, as the Chair of ASEAN in 2010, to successfully the Russia-ASEAN Summit in Hà Nội nex year.

The Vietnamese PM also briefed major issues to be placed on the table during his talks with the host PM Vladimir Putin.

He hoped that President Medvedev would pay attention to the realization of agreements reached by the two governments, especially in energy, petroleum, trade, and military technical cooperation.
