Participants in the meeting include the leaders from Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, China and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Themed "Leveraging 25 years of cooperation, Building an integrated, sustainable and prosperous GMS", the event aims to celebrate the 25th founding anniversary of the GMS and identify cooperation for establishing a region of prosperity, integration and sustainable development.

The Greater Mekong Subregion is a vast area with a population of 340 million people, which is comprised of 5 countries, namely, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Viet Nam and two provinces of China – Yunnan and Guangxi. With the region’s entire economic scale accounted for, GMS can be viewed as “one economy” with total GDP exceeding US$ 1300 billion.

Earlier on March 30, the first-ever GMS Business Summit took place in Ha Noi.
