PM attends transport sector’s conference on 2016 plan

According to a report by the Ministry of Transport, the Resolution implementation has created facelifts for the country’s transport infrastructure. 

 

Many modern big facilities have been put into operation, including Highways Ha Noi-Thai Nguyen, Noi Bai-Lao Cai, Ha Noi-Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Day Giay and Noi Bai-Nhat Tan; bridges of Nhat Tan, VinhThinh, Co Chien, My Loi and Hac Tri; Quan Lo-Phung Hiep route, Highways 51 and 80; Cai Mep-Thi Vai International Port; Cho Gao canal; Noi Bai T2 International Terminal, Pleiku and Da Nang airports.

 

The transport infrastructure in big cities and key economic centers has also been invested while traffic congestion in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City has been gradually eased. The number of traffic accidents, casualties and injured people has decreased and the transport system in rural areas has strongly improved.

 

The developed transport infrastructure has helped restructure the transport sector appropriately, connect transport modes synchronously, promote their strengths, reduce transport costs and elevate transport effectiveness and quality, contributing to raising the economy’s competitiveness.

 

The World Economic Forum’s reports recognized usefulness and quality of Viet Nam’s transport infrastructure, ranking it 67th in the world in 2015 from 103rd in 2010.

 

Meanwhile, restructuring State-owned enterprises has been conducted to facilitate businesses’ operation and improve management and operation capacity for businesses taking part in implementing the projects.

 

In 2016, the transport sector aims to tighten management over transport activity and control vehicles’ load; strive for a 7-8% average year-on-year growth in the volume of cargo and passengers; implement and disburse all allocated capital sources of VND80,993 billion (US$3.56 billion); continue reducing the number of traffic accidents, casualties and injured people by 5-10% over 2015 and addressing traffic problems in big cities, particularly Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City.
