PM attends Bac Lieu’s first-ever investment promotion conference

VGP – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc is attending an investment promotion conference in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on January 30. The conference is the first of its kind the province held after 20 years since its reestablishment.

This is the second investment promotion conference held nationwide in 2018 (after the first one in Phu Yen province on January 19), and the first conference of the Mekong Delta region this year.

With the theme of “Waking up potential – Sustainable Development,” the conference has brought together around 500 domestic and international delegations, representing ministries, sectors, localities, investment promotion agencies, business associations of some countries in Viet Nam, and investors, both at home and abroad.

In his opening remark, Chairman of the Bac Lieu People’s Committee, Duong Thanh Trung, affirmed that the province would develop rapidly and sustainably in the future, with a lot of room and opportunities for investors and businesses to make investments for mutual development.

He emphasized Bac Lieu’s pledge to create a transparent and equal investment environment for enterprises, whilst providing optimal support for investors within the prescribed framework. 

At the conference, the provincial authorities plan to grant investment licenses to over 10 projects and sign investment cooperation agreements with a total registered capital of more than VND110 trillion (US$4.84 billion).
