PM Asks for Strengthening COVID-19 Containment Measures

VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has ordered ministries, agencies and cities and provinces’ People’s Committees to stay vigilant and drastically, synchronously and effectively implement COVID-19 prevention and control measures in an official dispatch issued on April 23.

The COVID-19 situation in the world shows complex developments as the number of new cases and coronavirus-related deaths has increased in some countries, especially ones sharing border lines with Viet Nam. The risk of coronavirus outbreaks in Viet Nam remains high, especially from illegal entrants.

He asked for strictly implementing the 5K regulations including Khau trang (facemask)- (Khu khuan) disinfection- (Khoang cach) distance- (Khong tu tap) no gathering – (Khai bao y te) health declaration, especially wearing masks in public places, crowd areas and on public transport means.

COVID-19 containment measures must be inspected and observed at health facilities, schools, tourism sites, markets, airports and stations. Organizations and individuals violating the pandemic prevention regulations must be strictly punished.

The PM required the avoidance of unnecessary gatherings. In necessary cases, prevention and control measures must be guaranteed, particularly wearing masks and disinfection.   

The Ministry of Health was tasked to actively get access to other COVID-19 vaccine resources in line with promoting research and development of domestic vaccine while conduct large-scale testing for high-risk cases and ones with symptoms of cough, shortness of breath and fever.

Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Public Security and provinces and cities’ People’s Committees were requested to strengthen supervision of illegal entrants and strictly handle with illegal entrants at border provinces, particularly ones in the Southwest.

The same day, PM Pham issued an official dispatch on strengthening management of inbound flights.

As of 6.00 am of April 24, Viet Nam confirmed 2,832 COVID-19 infection cases. The number of the recovered patients reached 2,490, while the death toll remained at 35.
