The PM was welcomed at the airport by representatives of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Vu Hong Nam.

More than 400 guests who are heads of states and senior leaders of over 190 countries, territories and international organizations are expected to attend the coronation ceremony on October 22 afternoon. This is an important event for Japan, marking the beginning of a new era – the Reiwa Era.

Shortly after Japanese Emperor Naruhito ascended to the throne on May 1, the senior leaders of Viet Nam extended their messages of congratulations, in which they voiced belief that under the Reiwa Era, the Japanese nation and people would harvest significant achievements in the process of building a prosperous country.

PM Phuc’s participation in the coronation ceremony demonstrates Viet Nam’s respect for the extensive strategic partnership with Japan – a leading economic partner, the biggest ODA supplier, the second largest investor and the fourth largest trade partner of Viet Nam.

The two countries are signatories to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). The Viet Nam-Japan relationship is now in its best period in history since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties.

During the visit to Japan, PM Phuc is set to have several bilateral meetings.
