Viet Nam and New Zealand establish diplomatic ties in 1975 and the bilateral ties have since developed positively in all areas. Viet Nam is New Zealand’s 14th largest trading partner, with two-way trade turnover last year reaching US$1.3 billion. New Zealand now ranks 39th out of 143 countries and territories investing in Viet Nam.

Approximately 11,000 Vietnamese nationals are living, working and studying in New Zealand, serving as a bridge between the two countries.

During the visit, Prime Minister Pham is expected to meet with senior leaders of New Zealand, and heads of associations and leading businesses of the country; visit local scientific, technological, and educational institutions, and meet with the Vietnamese community here.

The two sides will discuss measures to further enhance bilateral cooperation in such focal and traditional areas as trade, investment, labor, education - training, and agriculture.
