Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong introduced as State President candidate

VGP – The 12th Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee (CPVCC) on Wednesday recommended Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to be the next State President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.

The recommendation will be formally voted by the National Assembly at its upcoming 6^th working session.

Mr. Trong, born on April 14, 1944, has been member of the CPVCC in the 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th tenures and member of the Politburo of the 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th tenures.

He has served as Chairman of the National Assembly from 2006-2011 and Party General Secretary since 2011./.
