Party chief challenges inferior levels to gain greater achievements in 2020

VGP – Party General Secretary, State President Nguyen Phu Trong praised inferior levels for their comprehensive and commendable achievements in 2019, challenging them to gain greater achievements next year.

Speaking at the Cabinet meeting this morning, the top Vietnamese leader emphasized that despite global economic slowdown, the economy continued sustaining high growth rate of 7.02%, becoming one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.

The country’s GDP increased to more than 262 billion and GDP per capita rose unprecedentedly to US$ 2,800, Trong added.

He also hailed progress in diplomacy and international integration as relations between Viet Nam and the rest of the world have been increasingly expanded and deepened, contributing to ensuring peaceful and stable environment for national development.

Anti-corruption and wrongdoings have been gradually controlled and tended to reduce after many corruption cases have been brought to light, gaining widespread public support, according to Trong.

The Party and State leader reiterated the Party's consistent determination of fighting corruption in association with perfecting mechanisms and policies so that no one dares to commit corruption.

He called for continued efforts in stabilizing macro-economy, controlling inflation, and improving the independence of the economy.

Trong urged the Government to better organize the implementation of plans on restructuring and divesting capital from State-owned enterprises and to bring about more tangible outcomes in fixing loss-making projects and weak commercial banks./.
