Overseas remittances to HCM City to reach US$5.5 bln

VGP – The overseas remittances poured in Ho Chi Minh City in 2015 are expected to increase 10% compared to the previous year, reaching US$5.5 billion.

The overseas remittances witnessed continuous increases over recent years, from US$4.1 billion in 2012, US$4.85 billion in 2013 to US$5 billion in 2014.

In the first eight months of 2015, the figure was US$2.75 billion, a year-on-year increase of nearly 14%.

As the exchange rate amplitudes were adjusted in August and more opportunities for investment in Viet Nam, the overseas remittances are forecasted to sharply increase in the remaining months of 2015.
