Overall planning scheme for VN’s railroad to 2020 supplemented

VNGOVNet – Considering the proposal of the Ministry of Transport and recommendations from the ministries of Planning and Investment, Finance, and Construction, the PM agreed to include the Project "To replace ties, lengthen and install new rails from Vinh to Nha Trang along the trans-Vietnam rail route" into the overall planning scheme for the development of Vietnam’s railroad transportation to 2020.

The PM entrusted the Ministry of Transport to direct the investor in adopting recommendations of the relevant agencies, completing the Project’s documents, and submitting for approval in conformity with current regulations on construction investment management.

The Project to upgrade the Vinh-Nha Trang Rail Section consists of two sub-projects: Sub-project 1 covers the extension of rails at 17 stations, installation of the third rail at seven stations, and replacement of main-route ties at 68 stations. Besides, upper structures of 22 quarters will be upgraded and the plane improved for some small-radius curves. Under Sub-project 2, concrete ties K1, K2, iron ties and rails P50 will be replaced with pre-stressed concrete ones at the 63 remaining quarters.
