Over 8,470 workers return home from Libya

VGP - As many as 8,476 Vietnamese workers in Libya have returned home by March 8, said the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) on Tuesday.

So far, the national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines has conducted 9 flights to bring Vietnamese workers home.

The last flight carrying 215 workers is scheduled to land at the Nội Bài International Airport at 8am on March 9, according to MOLISA.

In addition, about 50 Vietnamese workers in Turkey and Egypt are currently on other commercial flights heading home.

A Japanese ship, Hamanasu, with more than 1,000 Vietnamese workers aboard, which left the port of Benghazi in Libya on March 3, is expected to dock at Hải Phòng harbor on March 21.

Moreover, two IOM-funded flights with 272 Vietnamese workers aboard will land at the airport at 10.55am on March 9, according to the Việt Nam International Organization for Migration (IOM).

IOM is also arranging to bring home other 292 Vietnamese workers who are currently in safe places./.
