Over 250,000 soldiers and militiamen prepare for Hagupit

VGP – The Ministry of National Defence has mobilized over 37,000 military soldiers, 216,000 militiamen, 3,726 vehicles and ten naval ships to assist localities in response to upcoming Hagupit tropical storm.

Earlier, the Central Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control on December 10 held a video-teleconference discussing response measures for the storm which is likely to slam southern provinces from Khanh Hoa to Binh Thuan on December 12.

The two provinces on December 10 also issued urgent telegraphs asking for relevant units to be well-prepared for Hagupit.

The local authorities have drastically called upon vessels and evacuated residents to safer places./.
