One imported case of COVID-19 confirmed, patient tally increases to 1,207

VGP – The latest case (Patient 1207) is a 33-year-old woman repatriated from Oman on Flight QR976 which landed at Noi Bai International Airport in Ha Noi on October 22.

She was admitted to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases for treatment in Ha Noi's Dong Anh District. 

Of the country's patient tally, 691 are local infections, including 551 reported since the emergence of the second wave of COVID-19 on July 25.

A total of 1,069 COVID-19 patients in Viet Nam have recovered and exited hospitals while death toll remains at 35.

Among the current active patients, 17 have tested negative for the virus once, seven twice and five thrice.

As many as 15,260 people who came in close contact with COVID-19 patients or from pandemic-hit areas are now under quarantine nationwide.

Along with drastic effort to contain the pandemic, Viet Nam has also stepped up vaccine research and production with four vaccines announced so far.

The Ministry of Health (MoH) urged Nanogen Biopharmaceutical Co. Ltd. to complete procedures to promptly carry out first human trials of COVID-19 vaccine in November.

The Health Ministry has introduced a map of safe living with COVID-19, at www.antoancovid.vn, to control any outbreak nationwide. A total of 1,530 hospitals, 145 quarantine facilities, over 6,500 hotels of three-star standard or higher, and more than 53,800 schools have been updated on the map./.
