Number of new FDI projects up 18.1%

VGP – As of August 20, as many as 1,918 new Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects were licensed in Viet Nam, worth US$13.481 billion, up 18.1% and 0.2% in terms of the number of projects and capital against the same period last year.

The total newly-registered and additional capital over the recent eight months reached US$19.066 billion, down 4%.    

The processing and manufacturing sector took the lead in attracting FDI with US$9.301 billion, fowwed by real estate with US$5.496 billion.

Japan was the largest investor of Viet Nam over the recent eight months of 2018, accounting for 43.4%.

The capital city of Ha Noi ranked first among localities in attracting FDI, making up 37.8%
