Norway sponsors Phú Thọ to improve environment

VGP – The Việt Nam Red Cross and two partners, the Norway Red Cross and the international company Det Norske Veritas, signed on October 29 a cooperative memorandum on carrying out the project on clean water and environmental hygiene in the northern province of Phú Thọ.

The one-year project will be launched next month in two mountainous districts of Tân Sơn and Yên Lập, with the total capital of US$ 100,000.

The aim of the project is to provide clean water to and ensure environmental hygiene for over 180 households in the two districts by improving water supply systems and public sanitation, disseminating knowledge about health care, developing volunteer network and training first-aid skills for the  Red Cross staff of the two districts.

Regional Director of Det Norske Veritas, Mr. Helge Kjeoy expressed his desire to accelerate the plan-making phase and put the project into practice soon in order to reduce difficulties of local people
