The festival is expected to offer a playing field for tea growers and dealers to exchange experience and products and raise quality of made-in-Việt Nam tea.

The event is supposed to take place in March 2011, said the Provincial People’s Committee of Thái Nguyên.

Tea producers from about 20 other Vietnamese localities and around 50-60 foreign countries have registered to join the festival.

The northern province of Thái Nguyên is famous for green tea.

Việt Nam’s tea production has grown rapidly since the early 1990s as the country embraced a free economy. The country ranks fifth among largest tea producers and exporters globally. Its major export markets are Pakistan, Russia, Taiwan, the Middle East, India and its ASEAN neighbors./.
