Question (Ms. Elena Koryakina, Russian citizen having international passport): I would like to visit Việt Nam for 10 days. Do I have to apply for visa?

Answer (Consular Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs): The agreement on visa exemption between Việt Nam and Russia was signed on October 28, 1993. According to Article 18 of the agreement, official and diplomatic passport bearers enjoy visa exemption for their stay of around 90 days.

On September 11, 2008, the Office of Government issued Official Document No. 5979/VPCP-QHQT, announcing the PM’s opinion on visa exemption for Russian nationals who are ordinary passport holders and want to stay in Việt Nam for 15 days.

Thus, Ms. Elena Koryakina can enter Việt Nam with her official or ordinary passport without visa requirement.

For detailed instructions, the Consular Department wants to know which agency issued Ms. Elena Koryakina with her current international passport and the validity of her passport.
