Newly-registered businesses surge sharply in Jan-Feb

VGP – In the first two months of 2018, Viet Nam had 18,703 newly-founded firms worth VND 197.3 trillion, up 29.4% in number and 29.3% in value against the same period last year.

Average registered capital of a new business was VND 10.5 billion, down by 0.1%. Meanwhile, over 5,900 enterprises expanded operation with VND 337.3 trillion, raising the total amount of capital of VND 534.6 trillion to the domestic economy.  

In addition, 6,878 businesses resumed operation, down 13.8% against the same period last year. As a result, the number of newly-founded businesses and those resumed operation was 25,600 in the first two months. Newly-registered businesses recruited 156,400 laborers, representing a year-on-year decline of 6.1%.  

In the January-February period, 6,400 new enterprises operated in wholesale and retail sales (accounting for 34.5% of total number); 2,400 in construction (12.9%); and 2,300 in the manufacturing and processing industry (12.2%). 

Meanwhile, 17,132 enterprises suspended operation, up 4.5% against the same period last year. Up to 2,529 others were dissolved, up 0.2% against the same period last year./.
