National Press Festival kicked off

VGP – The Viet Nam Journalists Association opened the National Press Festival on March 16 in Ha Noi at the Ha Noi Museum.

The opening ceremony drew the participation of Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and head of the PCC's Communication and Education Commission and Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam. 

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong sent flowers to the event. 

Addressing the event, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam showed his pleasure at the National Press Festival with a lot of charming  activities. 

The Deputy hailed the development of the domestic press and its contributions to national development, Party building, political and security safeguarding, and national advertisement of Vietnamese people and country to the outside world. 

He was convinced that in 2018, the Vietnamese press would continue to flourish and serve national construction and development. 

Under the motto “Vietnamese press accompanies the nation in renovation,” Deputy PM Dam hoped that the Vietnamese press would make vigorous renovations in order to not only stand by but also serve national development. 

This is the third time the National Press Festival was held with the participation of over 55 press units from the Viet Nam Journalists Association’s branches and journalism education establishments.

This year, the festival is set to display outstanding publications from last year and in the first quarter of 2018, which will be classified into four different categories on Party building, National Assembly & constituents, building a transparent and constructive Government and journalists’ ethics.

Other activities include musical performances and fashion shows by journalism students, photo exhibitions and forums on the role of the press amid the fourth industrial revolution, among other topics.

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union will take the occasion to hold a meeting marking its founding anniversary (March 26) and to honor excellent young reporters.

The best stall, the best cover of a Tet publication, the best user interface of an online newspaper and outstanding scientific research projects will be honored. 

The festival will run until March 18./.
