The conference is aimed at strengthening and expanding opportunities to promote trade, tourism and investment as well as enhancing the connectivity between Vietnamese and Thai exhibition and event organizers.

Up to now, Việt Nam and Thailand have signed nearly 30 agreements on cooperation in such fields as economics, trade, investment, tourism, agriculture, forestry and fishing.

According to the statistic given by MIT, the two-way turnover between Việt Nam and Thailand increases by 25-30% per year. Việt Nam’s export and import values with Thailand reached US $1.3 billion and US $4.9 billion respectively in 2008.

Thailand has invested US $6 billion in 170 projects, ranking the eighth among investors in Việt Nam and the third among the ASEAN countries.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand already introduced Việt Nam’s trade and investment policies to over 160 businesses of Northern Thailand.

At the conference, the two nations’ organizations and businesses had favorable conditions to seek for partners and opportunities to penetrate into their respective markets. For instance, the Thai Toy Industry Association and UBM AISA made contacts with some Vietnamese organizations, associations and companies to introduce their products and discuss technological exchanges.
