Miss Grand International to be held in VN

VGP - Miss Grand International 2017 will be held from October 5 to 26 in Ho Chi Minh city, Quang Binh and Kien Giang’s Phu Quoc Island, according to the contest management board.

Quang Binh, home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, is the venue for the final of the national costume contest, while Phu Quoc, a resort island, will host the swimsuit and preliminary competitions, the board said.

The MGI 2017 is expected to draw 80 contestants from across the world, with Nguyen Tran Huyen My, runner-up of Miss Viet Nam 2014, representing Viet Nam.

During the contest, participants will visit war-affected children and join other charity activities.

In 2016, Indonesian beauty Ariska Putri Pertiwi was crowned the Miss Grand International in Las Vegas while Vietnamese contestant Nguyen Thi Loan was in the top 20 at the event.

The organizers hope that the event will contribute to promoting Viet Nam’s images to the world to attract more tourists to the country, making contributions to developing its tourism.

Miss Grand International, first organized in Thailand in 2013, is one of the five largest beauty contests in the world.
