Ministries to continue ASEAN-RoK TIG

VNGOP – Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm on October 9 entrusted the ministries of Industry-Trade and Finance to continue supervising and speeding up the implementation of the Trade in Goods Agreement (TIG) and provide Vietnamese businesses with necessary information and opportunities to access the markets created by TIG.

The two ministries should suggest the Vietnam Association for Seafood Export and Processing (VASEF) research and analyze the Republic of Korea’s (RoK) statutes for tender and quota allocation, so as to advice Vietnamese businesses to make use of chances brought about by these statutes. The Ministry of Finance was required to actively direct the application of the Commodity List HS 2007 on schedule.

The Deputy PM assigned the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Science and Technology to function as major suppliers of information about Việt Nam’s higiene quanrantine and technical standards to ASEAN nations and the RoK.

About trade in services (TIS), Deputy PM Khiêm entrusted the Office of the National Committee for International Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Foreign Ministry to prepare all conditions and procedures for the signing of a framework agreement on trade between ASEAN and the RoK in November 2007.
