Memorandum signed to stimulate int’l flights to Cam Ranh

VGP - A memorandum of understanding on opening international air routes to Cam Ranh International Airport in the central province of Khánh Hòa was signed by the provincial authorities, the Middle Airports Corporation, representatives of international airlines, and the local tourism association on July 24.

Accordingly, Khánh Hòa Tourism Association, which represents for all three- to five-star hotels in the province, commits to cutting down 20-50 in prices % of their accommodation services and 5-10% of tours, restaurant and recreational services for passengers coming to the province via Cam Ranh Airport.

The Middle Airports Corporation will not only support international airlines in terms of procedures but also cut half of their charges on services at Cam Ranh Airport as well as improve facilities to serve international flights.

The national flag carrier Việt Nam Airlines schedules to open a direct route between Cam Ranh and Incheon, the Republic of Korea from July 27. Russian airline Vladivostok Air also plans to open a direct route between Cam Ranh and Russia.

Cam Ranh has become an international airport since December 2009, yet no international air routes have been opened there so far. The airport attains the highest growth rate in the country, at 21% per year on average. It welcomed 700,000 passengers, including 383,000 international ones, in 2009.
