Legislative ties deepened between VN and Australia

NA Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng warmly welcomed President Paul Calvert, the “first guest" to the Vietnamese National Assembly in the Lunar New Year and was convinced that the visit will help boost the mutual understanding and cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries. Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng expressed his gladness to the good development of the Vietnam-Australia relationship in the fields of economy, trade, investment, education-training, and tourism. He thanked Australia for prioritizing the effective assistance and support to Vietnam in various aspects.

Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng briefly introduced the Australian guest the organization and operation of Vietnam’s National Assembly, stressing that over the past 20 years of renovation, the National Assembly has greatly improved its performance towards democracy, better quality and efficiency. The upcoming election of the 12^th National Assembly is being prepared promptly under the laws, said the host.

Senate President Paul Calvert showed his good impressions during his first visit to Vietnam and expressed his elation that Australia’s investment to Vietnam has considerably contributed to the latter’s rapid socio-economic development over the past years. The Australian guest agreed with Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng that, in the time to come, the two countries’ legislative bodies should actively exchange their senior delegations to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation, while closely collaborating each other at multilateral forums.
