PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng warmly welcomed President Gloria Arroyo to Hà Nội for the 16th ASEAN Summit.

He was pleased with the strong development of bilateral relations in numerous fields, particularly politics, diplomacy, economics, trade and investment.

PM Dũng proposed the two countries to open their joint committee meetings soon and attain a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation.

Việt Nam is willing to discuss with Malaysia and the Philippines issues relating to the continental shelf, said the Vietnamese leader.

President Gloria Arroyo showed her agreement with PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng’s proposals. She hoped that the two sides could reach long-term contracts on rice trading and an agreement on education cooperation, especially in teaching English and vocational training.
