The application of e-customs is expected to facilitate import-export activities.

Particularly, enterprises can complete customs clearance procedures even out of working hours and save their costs and time.

The e-customs program, which is designed to standardize the procedures nationwide and shorten the time it takes to clear customs procedures, is part of a larger e-commerce project undertaken by the Việt Nam Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The program on e-customs procedures has been piloted in the northern seaport city of Hải Phòng and Hồ Chí Minh City since October 2005, then expanded to Hà Nội, northern provinces of Lạng Sơn and Quảng Ninh, central city of Đà Nẵng and Quảng Ngãi Province, southern provinces of Đồng Nai, Bình Dương, and Bà Rịa-Vùng Tàu since mid-December 2009.

Permanent Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng recently okayed a plan to expand the pilot e-customs program to three more localities of Lào Cai, Hà Tĩnh and Cần Thơ this year./.
