Lâm Đồng’s vegetables meet European standards

VGP – Some vegetable growers in the Central Highlands province Lâm Đồng’s Đà Lạt City were recently acquired international certificates for their products, paving the way for the export of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables to foreign markets.

The People’s Committee of Lâm Đồng and the Danish International Development Assistance (DANIDA) yesterday jointly awarded the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certifications of food safety to two local enterprises, Hùng Thiên and Ánh Ban Mai.

In addition, Ánh Ban Mai, Langbiang, Mai Nguyên, Hải Đức farms and 20 peasant households of Khanh Cát company were recognized to meet Global Gap, European production standards on food safety.    

It was reported that after Việt Nam’s WTO accession, Lâm Đồng’s authority, agricultural enterprises and farmers paid special attention to growing safe vegetable in conformity with ASEAN and EU’s standards.

The province has consolidated ties between peasants, enterprises, banks, and scientists, opened training workshops on the modern cultivation of safe vegetable for farmers, and developed processing industries.

There are around 33,000 hectares of vegetable growing land in Lâm Đồng, including 1,000 hectares of glass and net houses equipped with high technologies. The province exports about 7,000 tons of vegetables yearly.
