Kon Tum helps Attapeu tackle consequences of dam collapse

VGP – Vice Chairman of Kon Tum Province’s People’s Committee Lai Xuan Lam and a delegation of the province visited local people in Attapeu, Laos who are suffering from the collapse of the Xe Pian-Xe Nam Noy hydropower dam.

He presented VND500 million and 350 packages including necessary commodities (worth VND300,000 per one) to people in Attapeu. 

The same day, the delegation visited Overseas Vietnamese in Attapeu and gave VND10 million to 15 Vietnamese families in the region. 

The same day, Kon Tum Province's Military Command provided VND50 million for Attapeu’s Military Command. 

The Xepian-Xe Nam Noy hydropower dam burst at 20:00 on July 23, causing flash floods in 10 low-lying villages and completely isolated Sanamxay district. Five of Sanamxaydistrict’s villages – namely May, Hinlath, NhaytheSanong Tay, Thasengchan, and Thahin – were entirely submerged.
