Japan’s Mie, HCMC prefecture eye ties in multiple areas

At the reception, Mie governor Eikei gave Liem an overview of the prefecture, saying it is forecast to post the highest economic growth in Japan in the future and has strengths in electronics, automobile, and seaport industries.

Mie’s firms appreciate the business climate in Viet Nam and Ho Chi Minh City and look forward to boosting economic ties and connectivity in tourism, culture and education with the city, he noted.  

In turn, Vice Chairman of the city’s People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem told the number of Japanese investors doing business in HCM City has risen in recent years, adding that city authorities have held annual meetings with business associations and investors from Japan to help them tackle problems and promote investment in the city.

Mr. Liem vowed that the city will facilitate Japanese enterprises venturing into long-term projects to bring benefits for both sides.

The official hoped Mie will exchange experience with the southern hub in tourism management and expand cultural exchanges and educational cooperation between the two sides, particularly between HCM City University of Education and Mie University.
