Osaka is ready to cooperate with Hồ Chí Minh City to handle pollution, especially water and air pollution, Governor Toru Hashimoto said at the meeting held by the Hồ Chí Minh City Branch of the Việt Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The relations between Osaka and Hồ Chí Minh City were formed in 1995 when the two sides inked a cooperation agreement on industry, trade and investment.

The two-way trade turnover between Osaka and Việt Nam has increased over the past three years. Over 800 firms from Osaka, including Panasonic, Sharp, and Sumimoto Electric,, have established long-term investment and trade ties here.

Earlier, the Hồ Chí Minh City People’s Committee received a business delegation comprising representatives of 13 electronics firms from Japan’s western region led by Mr. Ippei Takeda, Chairman of Nichicon.

Mr. Takeda said many Japanese companies want to invest in electronics, hi-tech and auto production in Hồ Chí Minh City.
