Japan vows to support VN’s sustainable development

Minh congratulated Japan on successful organization of the G20 Osaka Summit and Japan’s hospitality for Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc during his stay to attend the Summit and visit the Northeast Asian country from June 27-July 1.

Minh also expressed his pleasure at the comprehensive and substantial advancement of the Viet Nam-Japan Extensive Strategic Partnership as evidenced by strong political trust, regular exchange of high-level contacts, and increasingly expanding cooperation in such fields like defense-security, trade, and investment.

Meawhile, Kanehara was impressed with Viet Nam’s socio-economic achievements, affirming his country attaches importance to fostering cooperation with Viet Nam and will continue supporting the Southeast Asian country to pursue fast and sustainable development.

On multilateral aspect, both sides agreed to maintain regular information sharing on regional and international issues of common concern, pledging to continue close coordination at multilateral forums, especially the United Nations and ASEAN-led mechanisms.

Viet Nam is currently the country coordinator of the ASEAN-Japan relations for 2018 – 2021 period and will assume the ASEAN Chair and non-permanent membership role in 2020./.
