Int’l conference on cooperation for regional security in East Sea organized

VGP – The 6th International Conference on the East Sea themed “East Sea: Cooperation for regional security and development” is being held in the central city of Da Nang

The November 17-18 event, attracting the attendance of more than 200 domestic and foreign professionals and scholars, is aimed at strengthening exchanges and viewpoints on the East Sea issue.

Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Van Huu Chien proposed delegates discuss measures to enhance marine economic cooperation, maintain the investment environment and economic, trade and tourist relations at sea, measures to protect fishermen and ships at sea as well as the role of coastal localities and related nations in maintaining peace and promoting cooperation in the East Sea.

Deputy Director General at the ASEAN Affairs Department, under Myanmar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Myint Thu stated that the theme of the event is suitable since ensuring peace, stability and prosperity in the East Sea is a mutual concern.

He asserted that the conference creates a chance for scholars to exchange views and measures to help ASEAN and related sides to propose effective measures for the East Sea issue.
