This is the first time, the General Statistics Office incorporated this kind of information in the general economic census.
The export value of outsourced products was US$32 billion, making up more than 18% of Viet Nam’s total export revenues.
The top outsourcing areas included garments and textiles, footwear, electronics, and phones, the census shows.
Outsourcing companies gained US$ 8.6 billion in profits in 2016 but the majority of the companies were owned by foreign investors. Vietnamese companies’ profits only accounted for 26.4%./.
