Illegally-imported wastes forced to re-export

VNGOP – Acting on behalf of the PM, Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng on August 07 asked the People's Committees of the provinces and cities having border gates or seaports, General Department of Customs, and the Ministry of Resources and Environment to closely manage import and export activities in line with regulations on environment protection.

These agencies are required to force waste importers to re-export those substances to their original countries. Enterprises engaging in importing wastes into Việt Nam in any form must be punished strictly.

The Deputy PM ordered the Hải Phòng City People's Committee to coordinate with relevant agencies in dealing with the recent illegal import of secondhand lead batteries, electrodes and other wastes via the Hải Phòng Seaport and make report to the PM.
