Hundreds of Vietnamese citizens fly home from Russia, Belarus

VGP – Nearly 280 Vietnamese citizens were brought home safely on July 17 thanks to the coordination between Vietnamese authorities, representative agencies and national flag carrier Viet Nam Airlines (VNA), and the Vietnamese Embassies in Russia and Belarus.

The passengers onboard the VNA flight included children under 18, the elderly, pregnant women, people with sickness, students who had completed their academic year but were unable to remain due to expired visas or the closure of their dormitories, along with workers left stranded in Russia and Belarus.  

The Vietnamese Embassies in Russia and Belarus sent its officials to directly assist the citizens at the airports.

With the aim of ensuring citizens’ health and prevent the spread of the pandemic, the airline implemented security, safety and epidemiological measures throughout the flight. 

Right upon their landing at Van Don International Airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh, all the passengers and the crew members were medically checked and put under quarantine in line with current regulations.

Following instructions from Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Vietnamese agencies, Vietnamese representative agencies abroad, and domestic airlines will continue to conduct more flights to bring home Vietnamese citizens from abroad. 

Since April 10, Viet Nam has arranged 56 flights to repatriate 13,603 citizens from foreign countries and territories, official data show./.
