Health ministry confirms 58 new COVID-19 cases

The latest patients included two imported cases who are Indian nationals arriving in Viet Nam on April 24.

All the others are local infections recorded in Bac Giang (33), Ha Noi (eight), Bac Ninh (seven), Lang Son (five), Dien Bien (two) and Hai Duong (one).

Among the national patient tally, 3,790 are community infection cases, including 2,220 reported in 30 cities and provinces since April 27 when the fourth wave of local transmissions broke out.

As many as 2,721 patients have recovered and exited hospitals while the death toll stood at 42, according to the ministry.

About 173,440 people who came in close contact with COVID-19 patients or had travel record to pandemic-hit areas are being quarantined nationwide, including 4,356 in hospitals, 36,126 in concentrated quarantine sites, and 132,958 at their places of residence./.
