HCMC’s GDP may expand at two–digit rate in first half

VGP – Hồ Chí Minh City’s economy has bounced back to its pre-crisis pace and may properly expand at 11% in the first six months this year, said Mr. Lê Hoàng Quân, Chairman of the city’s Municipal People’s Committee.

Industrial production index has augmented 13% and the total investment for capital construction up 15.8% in the country’s biggest economic hub.

Over the past five months, the retail value has reached VND 145,000 billion, up 34.1% against the same period last year. The city has earned an export turnover of US $7.45 billion.

The city has welcomed over 1.3 million turns of foreign arrivals, seeing an increase of 10% and posting a growth rate of 41.4% in tourism earnings.
