HCMC’s CPI up 1.13% in September

VGP – The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Ho Chi Minh City increased 1.13% and 3.16% compared to the previous month and the same period last year, respectively, according to the city’s Statistics Office.

The education service faced a rise of 19.02%, highest among 11 commodities and services, due to the increase in the education fees in the 2014-2015 academic year.

Other commodities witnessed rises such as housing up 0.39%, garment, hats and footwear up 0.3%, beverage and tobacco up 0.14%.

Five commodities seeing declines during the month included transportation down 2.03%, electricity down 0.55%, restaurants and food service down 0.2%, medicine and health service down 0.04% and entertainment down 0.02%.

In September, gold prices declined by 0.93%. The price of the US dollar also fell by 0.03% on-month.
