Hồ Chí Minh City will launch a  pilot project exploiting 21 new CNG-fuelled buses on the route between Bến Thành Market and Bình Tây Market

The trial operation will be conducted for six months before the city’s authorities decide the plan on the mass use of green public vehicles.

The investment capital worth of about US $2 million for buying the buses will come from the Hồ Chí Minh City State Financial Investment Co.

SaigonBus will be responsible for formulating unit prices and price subsidiaries.

In the period of 2009-2011, Hồ Chí Minh City plans to replace and put into operation 38 green buses. After 2011, additional 500 CNG-fuelled buses will run in the inner city.

Earlier, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on June 7 announced a plan to support the feasible project through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
