VGP – Ho Chi Minh City’s police force has been assigned to set up COVID-19 checkpoints on all land and sea roads to the city from May 15.

This is part of the southern economic hub's latest measures to strengthen COVID-19 prevention and control work. 

Local people were required to strictly implement 5K (in Vietnamese) campaign: Khau trang (facemask) - (Khu khuan) disinfection - (Khoang cach) distance - (Khong tu tap) no gathering – (Khai bao y te) health declaration. 

The city will also set up working groups capable of taking swabs for up to 5,000 people a day and raising the capacity of concentrated quarantine camps to more than 10,000 beds. 

In addition, it plans to build more field hospitals with 5,000 beds to get ready for the nation's scenario of 30,000 COVID-19 patients. 

The fourth coronavirus wave broke out in Viet Nam on April 27, with 610 domestic cases confirmed in 26 cities and provinces as of 6:05 pm on Wednesday./.
