Covering 3.2 hectares, the first plant of its kind in Hồ Chí Minh City is able to treat 21 tons of toxic wastes (hospital and industrial wastes) per day.

BIC Systems N.V, a Belgian company, is in charge of designing, installing and operating the plant which is expected to come into operation in the year's end.

The Belgian Government pledged to offer a half of the VND 1 billion investment capital through ODA while the rest is mobilized from the local budget.

In the first stage, around 1,100 square meters will be used to bury ashes. A 6,000 square meter green area will be formed surrounding the plant to reduce smoke dispersion.

In the next stage, the Belgian contractor will hand over some technological advances for the project.
