HCM City develops microchip industry

VGP – Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City plans to make microchip revenues of some US$150 million by 2017, while training 2,000 engineers and technicians, and incubating around 30 microchip enterprises.

Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee and Head of the Steering Committee for the city’s Microchip Industry Development Program, Mr. Le Manh Ha, just agreed upon the program’s 4 schemes, namely training human resources, incubating enterprise, chip production, and building a chip design center.

The program’s initial cost is estimated at VND7,506 billion, including VND453 billion from the city’s budget. The Saigon Industry Corporation is the investor of the chip production plant with investment of VND6,600 billion in the HCM City Hi-Tech Park.
