Hải Phòng: The future industrial-tourist-service center

VGP – The PM on October 31 approved the Plan to build and develop Hải Phòng City in the period of national industrialization and modernization from 2008 to 2015.

Under the plan, Hải Phòng tries to have by 2015 an average GDP growth rate of 13.5-14% per year; industrial production value 18-19%; export turnover US $4 billion; volume of commodities circulated via local seaports over 50 million tons; welcome 9 million turns of tourists; and reduce the urban unemployment rate below 4%.

To fulfill these goals, the Plan proposes ten major solutions, focusing on the completion, revision and supplementation of mechanisms and policies in order to build Hải Phòng as a modern industrial city prior to 2020; speed up agricultural and rural industrialization and modernization; facilitating the development of high-quality economic industries and services.

 sea transport in the Red River Delta and of the country as well. So, it is necessary to improve quality of maritime industries, aquaculture, sea tourism. Besides, the city will pay greater attention to IT application and development; agricultural production and rural development to create more high-quality goods.

The city will invest in infrastructure works, such as the Đình Vũ Economic Zone, Hà Nội-Hải Phòng Highway, Hải Phòng International Gateway Port, Cát Bi International Airport, fishing logistics center on Bạch Long Vỹ Island, and international tourist sites at Đồ Sơn and Cát Bà.
