Hà Nội and HCMC's CPI slightly up

VGP – The consumer price index (CPI) of Hà Nội and Hồ Chí Minh City increased by respective 0.24% and 0.58% in May, reported the two municipal statistics offices.

The capital city's CPI went up by 12.91% against the same period last year.

In May, almost prices of all categories of commodities slightly increased except for foodstuff and catering services (down 0.25%) and education (unchanged).

Transport, post and telecommunication services got the same highest price increase of 2.31%. Other groups of goods like beverage, cigarettes, garments, footwear, housing, water and electricity, fuels, building materials, household furniture and utensils; medicines and health services, cultural-sport-entertainment services rose by 0.05-2.23%.

Meanwhile, in Hồ Chí Minh City, the commodities having sharp CPI increase include post and telecommunication services (up 2.08%), housing, water, electricity and building materials (1.37%), household furniture and utensils (1.17%).

Only the groups of cultural, entertainment and tourist products saw the decrease of 0.14%.

Price of gold in Hà Nội and Hồ Chí Minh City went up by 0.19% and 0,2% respectively in May.

The two cities witnessed the same increase of US dollar price at 1.96%.
