Under Decree 94/2010/NĐ-CP dated on September 9, 2010 on the residential and community-based drug rehabilitation, Chairmen of the People’s Committees at commune level are obliged to work with local vocational training establishments to train and generate jobs for rehabilitated addicts.

The model of detoxification, lasting for 6-12 months, will be applied to above 12-year-old drug users.

According to the Decree, the Government will sponsor fees for treatment medications (once only) for the poor, beneficiaries of social policies, juveniles, as well as the handicapped.

The latest statistics of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs show that as of June 2009, Việt Nam has nine voluntary rehabilitation centers which have treated 10,426 drug addicts./.
