VGP – On the sideline of the 15th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP15) opened in Copenhagen, Denmark, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng on December 17 (Hà Nội time) had separate bilateral meetings with Israeli President Simon Peres, Australian PM Kevin Rudd and Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations Development Program Olav KjØrven.

In his
meeting with Israel’s
President Simon Peres, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng underlined that Việt Nam places
importance on the expanding ties with Israel and will create favorable
conditions for Israeli investors to do business.
Acknowledging Israel’s assistance in training Vietnamese
technicians, the Government chief hoped that Israel would continue this work and
grant more scholarships for Vietnamese trainees, especially in education,
biotechnology and high technologies.
PM Dũng agreed to dispatch
the Minister of Science and Technology and leaders of some ministries to Israel for
discussions on bilateral cooperation.
For his part, President
Simon Peres confirmed Israel’s
desire to develop the multifaceted cooperation and share its experience with Việt
Nam.

Meeting each other in Copenhagen, PM Dũng and Australian
counterpart Kevin Rudd were pleased with the recent advancements of the bilateral
relationship.
They agreed that the two
sides should design a joint action program to drastically finalize the document
on comprehensive partnership, which was drafted during the Australia tour
made by Vietnamese Party chief Nông Đức Mạnh.
Highly speaking of Australia’s assistance in environment protection
and combating climate change, PM Dũng expected Australia
to transfer Việt Nam
weather forecast technologies and research results on climate change in the Asia-Australia
region. He also hoped to see stronger cooperation in food quarantine and
hygiene so that more agro- and marine products from Việt Nam can easily penetrate in Australia.
PM Kevin Rudd agreed with
PM Dũng’s opinions on the closer cooperation between Việt Nam and Australia in protecting environment,
responding to climate change, and settling other regional and international
issues.
