Gov’t chief discusses bilateral ties with Chinese Premier on regional summit margin

PM calls for regulated management of reservoirs along Mekong river

PM Phuc stressed the significance of the mutual exchanges of high-level visits during which both sides’ leaders reached a number of common perceptions to foster the Viet Nam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in a stable, healthy and sustainable manner in the time to come.

He affirmed Viet Nam attaches great importance to the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China, especially in such fields like economy, trade and investment.

Both sides should actively accelerate mutual high-ranking visits and contacts; continue directing their ministries, agencies and localities to coordinate closely in implementing the agreements and common perceptions reached by the two countries’ leaders; beef up healthy and balanced trade exchanges, said PM Phuc.

He also suggested the two countries timely and effectively implement China-funded projects in Viet Nam; cooperate in agriculture, climate change adaptation, science and technology for mutual benefits.

PM Phuc took the occasion to invite Chinese Premier Li to visit Viet Nam and attend the 6^th Greater-Mekong Subregion Summit scheduled from March 29-31.

Regarding maritime issue, PM Phuc urged the two countries to observe the common perceptions and the agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of sea-related issues; effectively control differences and maintain peace, stability in the East Sea while accelerating practical talks to form an effective Code of Conduct in the East Sea.

Premier Li asserted China is keen on the friendship policy with Viet Nam and expects to work with Viet Nam to beef up the development of the bilateral ties in a stable and sustainable manner.

He promised to visit Viet Nam at an appropriate time and asked the two foreign ministries to discuss his attendance at the GMS Summit in Viet Nam./.
