Gov’t builds national portal on tracing product origins

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc has recently passed a project on deployment, application, and management of a national system on product traceability.

The project aims to build and operate a portal on national product and good traceability by 2020. 

It targets to perfect the legal system, guiding documents on product origins; promote social engagement in the field in favor of international integration; increase state management work; ensure the quality and safety of goods and products. 

The document also looks to raise social awareness on traceability. 

By 2020, the legal system on traceability will be reviewed. At least five national standards and one national technical criterion will be issued. A system of traceability will be applied to some products namely agro-forestry-fishery sector, food, medicines, construction. 

By 2025, at least 30 national criteria and two national technical standards on traceability will be introduced. At least 30% of enterprises operating in production, business, and services will apply codes and barcodes in Viet Nam. 

By 2030, the portal on national product and good traceability will be able to serve enterprises, individuals, and organizations; perfect the databases on products and goods.

To fulfill the aforesaid goals, the project set a series of tasks and solutions including perfecting the legal system; issuing guiding documents on product tracing; apply a system on national traceability; boost international cooperation; and operate the portal./.
